SAML upgrade completed

May 12, 2025

Hi folks

It is about 8pm on Monday the 12th of May.

Sorry if this is inconvenient but it’s a necessary upgrade that I have been putting off for a while.  We’re moving from SimpleSAMLPHP verson 1 to version 2.  There are a number of changes that we are working through and hope to have it all working again by Tuesday morning.

Cheers
Murray

Update 10pm: We have managed to clear most of the problems, however I don’t believe the authentication process is fully working yet.  I haven’t seen any SAML users successfully log in yet.

Update 11:20pm: Authentication is still not working.  It’s getting late and I can’t find the help I need.  I’m starting to think about rolling back.

Update 1:00am: We’ve rolled back to SampleSAMLPHP version 1.   We will reschedule.

Update 7am 13th of May: The roll-back to version 1 has been unsuccessful.  I’m searching for the setting that I haven’t reset, but I’m running out of options…

Update 7:40am: The roll-back is now working!

UPDATE: There was a big gap here as we worked through the various issues and rolled out to a few schools to ensure it was working and stable.  It is now July and we are reasonably happy that the new library is working well.  We have determined that we don’t support SAML 1, so any schools using SAML 1 should upgrade their IDP before migrating to our new library.
